Constance Bell, SOS Business Manger
Constance Bell joins SOS with over 20 years experience in human resources and management with the City of Detroit. With an extensive background in planning, development, communication and negotiation skills, she is tasked with cultivating new educational ventures for SOS.
Throughout her career, Constance has the demonstrated ability to build relationships by utilizing her keen sense of interpersonal skills. Constance is a team leader with a proven record of recruiting, motivating and retaining quality professionals.
Constance holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, from Lawrence Technological University and serves has a Board Member with the Lawrence Technological Alumni Association.
Lawrence Cox, SOS Education Specialist
Lawrence Cox joins SOS with seven years of teaching experience in math and reading as part of Detroit’s primary educational system. In addition he is a coach and mentor for mathematics teachers at Wayne State University.
Mr. Lawrence holds a B.S. in Psychology with a minor in Marketing from the University of Michigan, a MBA in Statistics from the University of Detroit and Masters of Math Education from Wayne State University . He spends his free time tutoring students through programs at his church and playing golf.
Ashley Jones, SOS Education Specialist
Ashley Jones comes to SOS with 3 years of experience as science teacher in Houston. She was a prominent part of N.S.B.E. (National Society of Black Engineers) as Vice Chair and Programs Chair. Through N.S.B.E. she helped launch the first week long black history program at the University of Houston.
Prior to joining SOS, Ashley trained teachers on becoming more effective in the classroom and help to increase the school’s scores by forty percent. Ashley is now attending Prairie View A & M University to obtain her master’s degree in chemical engineering.
She continues to serve her community regularly by volunteering, mentoring and tutoring youth and helping them prepare for college.
Michael Nevels, SOS Education Specialist, CEO
Michael is an informal educator. He has over 35 years of innovation experience spanning engineering, technology, and volunteering by developing interactive programs that incorporated the technical aspects of STEM with fun, inquiry-based activities that get kids excited.
Claire Scoggin, Education Specialist
Claire Scoggin joins us as a curriculum expert with 27 years of classroom experience and as a former curriculum writer for the Houston Museum of Natural Science. She was also a Texas History curriculum coordinator in Fort Bend ISD.
At the Houston Museum of Natural Science, Claire wrote elementary and secondary curriculum for all the permanent exhibits and many special, temporary exhibits that were science and social studies related. She became expert at aligning all curriculum to national, state and local standards. This included training teachers in aligning their subjects to required standards in order to prepare students for the tests required by most states. Claire specialized in energy education, creating and managing educational activities for all ages, from preschool through adult as the Director of the Wiess Energy Hall at the museum.
Claire received a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from the University of Texas and has served on many advisory boards at the state and national levels including Texas Regional Collaborative and NEED
Susan Thompson, SOS Marketing and Development Director
Susan Thompson joins SOS with over 20 years experience in marketing and research analysis. Susan also brings a multitude of community relations experience in developing energy-related STEM programs for elementary schools and community colleges.
